Not being able to see the whole picture and it’s perspective gives rise to much speculation and opportunity for errors.
Currently evidenced in our navigation of a safe way out of lockdown from the coronavirus.
No one with 20/20 vision, no one able to pre empt what will be the response to whatever action taken, no one with hind sight wisdom before it’s happened.
We have great difficulty sometimes being able to see a way forward. This might be because of our perspective. When we stand too close to something it appears so large it obscures our vision completely and simply standing back and further away immediately gives more clarity.
As I was reminded during a recent conversation proportions and perspective also come into play and there should be a way of seeing or indicating whether it is a Miniscule pimple, Mole hill or Massive Mountain.
The scale to us is imperative otherwise a minor irritation takes on the same dimensions and brow beating as a major catastrophe. From minute to minute according to our mood that scale can magnify or diminish!
How many of us have put off and put off until a final climax has brought us to action only to find it was no big deal anyway?
How many off us have overcome a big deal with more ease than a silly little niggle?
The biggest comfort however, is to recall that God is bigger than all mountains. He can see over and through and round every situation as if it were of no consequence and the secret lies in the trusting Him to do so.
The illustration shows how even the smallest mountain, the violet disc, can obscure our vision. The Smallest mountain closest to the person in the bottom right hand corner obscures all that individual’s view and yet even the observer sees its scale is pimple like compared to the size of the subsequent mountains represented by discs.
Being topical to this period each mountain has been illustrated as a coronavirus named mountain called :Alone, Isolated, Lockdown, Vaccine, Death, Coronavirus.
We encounter many other mountains with many other names in life.
God’s eye is larger than all the mountains. He has clear sights over, through, behind and beyond.
For a climber we may have experienced also that at the peak of getting over one Mountain we encounter another and another and another the summit can seem ongoing,
Also we all know the magnificence of mountain top experiences too.
The reaching of the final peak, summit and the moment.
Always the lesson is learnt when we learn to put our trust in the All Seeing Omnipotent God.
The magnitude and impossibility of any situation never arising above His view.
His eye always able to see the way over, round, through whatever we may encounter.
