The pandemic is a prime time and opportunity to spend time alone with God and to reposition ourselves closer to Him. We may find that he is creating in us a passion for something which gives us hunger, purpose and direction.
Take hold of what God gives you and treasure it because if you steward it well He will honour it and give you more.
It is like asking for an oak tree and being given the acorn. Or the apple tree and receiving the pip. It is Gods heart to be in partnership with us and share the development so that we have encounter and a part in the whole process and a chance to marvel at Gods ways.
I came across this thought provoking comment recently, there is enough light given for those who want to see to make headway and enough obscurity for those who don’t to remain blind and critical.
God will offend your mind to reveal your heart. Look carefully at what you are tempted to reject or avoid. It will often not be your intellect that shows you the way. You have to accept that your heart can lead the way however out of control that may feel.
Just as the sea ebbs and flows we sense times of its rhythmically coming and going and then suddenly something awakens our passion and we know something that we hunger for. It fills our passion, it fits our unique personality like a glove.
That is the seed to grasp hold of and cultivate until it fully ripens into the juicy fruit it was designed to be.
Perhaps it is a sign of my age but I also see more now in the miracle of multi generational aspects of creation and nature and the model it teaches for our hopes for our family and generations to come.
To explain, there are amazing facts of nature and creation being discovered increasingly one such fact in the butterfly world where in its life cycle we have long known the amazing 4 stages of egg, pupa, chrysalis and butterfly.
Recently I discovered that there is a Monarch species which also has a 4 year and so multi generational migration between Mexico and Canada!
All this accomplished by the one generation standing on the shoulders of the previous.
Just as generations biblically have done.
It makes me pause to wonder in these times how far out reaching the sacrifices and endeavour we are experiencing now may be of generational value.
Things that make our children and their children’s lives and world and position in their spiritual and physical welfare advantaged.
If we can catch a fragment of purpose and benefit for the generations to come, especially the ones in our own family’s photo albums it makes a difference to how we feel now.
Many of us love and profess we would die for our own and we have to wonder if there will be a future that is the new, new which there will be a pride and gratitude in worthy of sacrifice.
We can pray that just as in most things where the kingdom appears topsy – turvey to the world that is indeed the outcome. The nightmare births the dream.
The illustration shows the nightmare of the body parts not created in perfection to be purposeful for their use. What good would a foot where the ear should go be and so on?
God’s creation and purpose is amazingly perfect as it has been, as it evolves, as it will be always.
Two scriptures that come to mind:
Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. James 1 v 2-4
The Lord has made everything for its purpose. Prov 16 v 4
