We are sensing in the world the systematic lifting of lock down according to the government’s programming. Of being released back into the action step by step as from June 1st after much waiting and still with trepidation.
How strange is it that it coincides with what biblically was a lock down in the Upper room. Disciples of Jesus separated from the rest of society not for fear of a pandemic spread but for fear of being killed as followers of Jesus. Also because Jesus had instructed them to wait for a Helper who He would send.
They were isolated from the world awaiting God’s next move. They waited 40 days, some gave up as it was thought an initial 500 had dwindled to 120 but the remaining ones who had submitted to Jesus command experienced and received the Advocate He had promised.
Their last occasion of witnessing the Holy Spirit as a manifestation was as a Dove coming from the parted clouds and alighting on Jesus’ shoulder after John had baptised Him in the Jordan.
The audible words of God saying ‘ This is my Son, whom I love, With Him I am well pleased’ and the shift was the beginning of Jesus 40 days in the desert and then His 3 year ministry.
This and the miracles that Jesus went on to perform led both to his increased following and the disapproval He encountered which culminated in His crucifixion.
Jesus was resurrected from the dead on Easter Sunday and had re encountered His disciples for a further period of ministry and miracles until His ascention back to heaven celebrated by the church last week.
The Holy Spirit is witnessed in several forms from the beginning of Creation to today. He has manifested in varied ways biblically but equally within peoples lives historically and to this day.
He is the third person of the Trinity. God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.
His significance is paramount in being the conduit through whom God communicates and moves.
The discerned presence of God and Jesus in our lives.
He lives within us for our personal direction, guidance and enlightenment. He rests upon us for the benefit of others to detect and discern God’s presence and He moves to Lead, guide and position us.
Prophetically it is no coincidence that the same sense, words or predictions appear to be coming from lots of different sources, minds or mouths at the same time indicative of the one Spirit saying and leading in the one direction.
Being lead by the Holy Spirit means being aligned to God’s Will.
The illustration represents the dove as the Holy Spirit flying across the water. The light of the spectrum breaking through. Carrying Light visibly. With a sense of speed and a rush of wind through the trees felt and seen as a movement more than a substance.
Also representative of The Holy Spirit as when God speaks being like words snatched fleetingly in a thought. Discerned more than heard, glanced upon more than seen but known in the gut or heart.
Two scriptures which come to mind:
“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.”Genesis 1:1-2 ESV
“But the Holy Spirit will come and help you, because the Father will send the Spirit to take my place. The Spirit will teach you everything and will remind you of what I said while I was with you.”John 14:26 CEV
