God’s Gifts.
Coronavirus interventions have, until now, for some of us, sadly not all , given a space and time to walk closer with God.
We can praise God Daily for His many gifts of life, beauty, health, family and so many more things on the lists that we each have.
Two of His greatest gifts however are:
First His Son Emmanuel. Jesus who brought God to earth to be with us.
Coming as a helpless babe incarnate to experience and know as we know and to be the Servant King showing us how to live the Kingdom life. Then sacrificing His life to redeem us from the punishment we deserved for our sins.
Secondly the gift of the Holy Spirit to reside within and upon all of us who believe.
To Help us in our personal relationship and journey of faith and to give testimony to others seeking Him.
Receiving the Holy Spirit brings fruits.
God’s Spirit makes us loving, happy, peaceful, patient, kind, good, faithful, gentle, and self-controlled.
Also The Spirit has given each of us a special way of serving others. Some of us can speak with wisdom, while others can speak words of knowledge or we have the power to lay on hands for healing miracles.
Some of us are prophets, and some of us recognise when God’s Spirit is present. Others can speak different kinds of languages, and others can tell what these languages mean.
All of the gifts are given not for our own benefit but for that of others and to give God Glory in doing so.
We have no power ourselves it is all His work.
For most part these gifts are like the tools given to us as and when they are needed but some people seem extra well equipped in specific areas and tend to practice those most as their gifting.
God answers prayer and uses us daily and miracles happen daily but there are times and places in history where there have been big waves of the Holy Spirit moving. Historically they have been called times of revival.
People have experienced and witnessed powerful works of the Holy Spirit and have been transformed and left in no doubt regarding the wonders of the Almighty God they Worship
It is many Christian’s prayer that there are hopes of such a time again on the horizon.
A sense of God’s Spirit on the move and a sense of a need to be ready to move in His timing. To be stirred up and prepared.
The illustration shows God the creator leaning down to earth to bestow two great gifts.
The first one Jesus given as the infant in the Christmas story and the second one the dove representing the Holy Spirit given at Pentecost.
Behind God is the rainbow, the symbolic promise after the great flood of Noah that he would never again destroy all life on earth and restart afresh.
A promise of hope.
The period of Coronavirus has emblazoned that Rainbow promise.
His covenant encompassed that the two gifts. Jesus and the Holy Spirit would save us.
Three scrIptures that come to mind are:
“I will remember my promise to you and to all other living creatures. Never again will I let floodwaters destroy all life. When I see the rainbow in the sky, I will always remember the promise that I have made to every living creature. The rainbow will be the sign of that solemn promise.” Genesis 9:15-17 CEV
Ezekiel 34:26 “And I will cause the shower to come down in its season; there shall be showers of blessing
Behold, I will do something new, now it will spring forth; will you not be aware of it? I will make a roadway in the wilderness, rivers in the desert” (Is. 43:19).
