Put your ear to God’s chest and listen to His heart.
Be still and wait.
It seems that He is wanting us not to rush on busily planning new but to linger and listen.
It is almost a voice saying in the wilderness slow down, don’t rush, let Me get to the front to open the doors and lead you through.
Moses lead the Israelites out of the clutches of the slave driving Egyptians to freedom but he, in turn, was lead safely by the cloud by day and the plume of flame by night. He didn’t have to navigate it himself just listen to and watch for God and obey.
If God’s agenda is to turn things on their head.
Which interestingly in the Egyptian hieroglyphics meant it was dead! Then so be it.
What is in God’s heart ?
What is His intention?
Certainly to interrupt what has been.
The temptation of getting back to what was is to do one of two things.
One is to slot back in to the old slippers of comfort and familiarity and not be aware of the fact that we might have changed size in the interim, or there might now be some other choices and better options and so is what we had before what we now want?
The other is to be fearful of same old no longer being our choice but overwhelmed with new style and choices and how to go about things in the best way if it is to be different?
It is liberating not to feel the need to be the decision maker and leader but just to follow what we hear and obey.
It takes all the effort out of being responsible to plan and create the new.
Instead to co-labour as if we were strapped into one yoke.
I recall too the image of V formation of migratory geese, where most are travelling in the air slip of the leader who is exerting to break the way through the air allowing the others to follow at ease.
The difficulty lies in our desire to be in control.
It takes greater faith to believe and allow and submit.
Is this what the future era demands of us?
Have we experienced enforced being out of control in the grip of the coronavirus pandemic?
Has the lesson from that lessened our need to grasp the reins tighter or has it allowed us to know. We’ve fallen into doing it differently and not only survived but come through better equipped.
I have great faith that God is and has always been in control.
That we have every reason to trust Him.
Now is a time to exercise that trust.
God wins.
The illustration is of us curled safely onto God’s chest.
Resting and With our ear pressed listening to His heart.
Allowing ourselves to align and follow His lead and way.
Not rushing away to do it our way.
Allowing Him to move.
Three scriptures which come to mind:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”Proverbs 3:5-6 ESV
“Whoever is of God hears the words of God. The reason why you do not hear them is that you are not of God.””John 8:47 ESV
“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.”John 10:27-28 ESV
The song Your Word. Hillsong
https://youtu.be/G9NEYy71lcU
Hi Jan, just read through your blog and listened to the Hillsong Your Word, really enjoyed it, listened twice. What struck me was the amount of people all in one accord, praising and worshipping, most oblivious to the person next to them, what blows my mind is thinking about your picture and thousands of people all singing and praising God. God has each one curled up in His bosom, at that precise second. We don’t need to get a ticket and wait in line two metres apart wondering how long it will be before we are seen to. God holding us tightly, close to Him, even when we don’t realise it when times are tough, we are there. What an image to comprehend, look at your picture, so personal and private, and then watch the video, HOW LORD DO YOU DO THAT!! I couldn’t help but watch the next Hillsong video, What a Beautiful Name. It’s not until you start to think about the words, Beautiful, Powerful Name that you begin to realise the impact of them. How can you grasp the enormity of them when you add Jesus to them, it makes you feel so insignificant, just like a faceless attendee at the concert but then the picture you drew makes you think, WOW what a God we have. His love is SO VAST and immense how can we comprehend it.
Oh well, shall have another read and listen to the song. And ponder a bit more.
God bless

Hi Dave. When we get glimpses such as yours it does undoubtedly blow your mind away doesn’t it? I find a lot of worship music opens our hearts to see so much and the vastness and the intimacy stand in a tension that is un fathomable! Thanks for sharing your thoughts as always.
Take care. Xx
