Flush away the ugly be cleansed and refreshed awaiting the new Beauty.
We have globally seen washed clean clearer skies bluer and radiant Fresher and healthier in composition of a far greater, purer quality.
We have seen transparently clean waters sustaining more fish and life created to thrive and inhabit them.
Homeless cleared off the streets to be assisted and re homed.
Now a drug Dexamethasone which is washing away some sickness and death.
Also hunger with the most recent turn around after Marcus Rashford’s standing out and the help your neighbour initiative for feeding the poor and hungry.
( So many prayers God has heard and answered ! )
People are seeking faith places to worship.
We have had strong instincts, kicked into life, to deep clean Our homes and refresh and renew them and improve family life.
I wonder if any of us have sensed God’s desire to declutter and cleanse our Spiritual lives too.
Has God been saying time to get rid of, clean up and start again, a new era?
Preparing a place for beauty not brokenness.
The water of the Holy Spirit to cleanse, refresh and flush away What is not good and worthy.
To become respectable again and worthy of being respected.
A place to come out of the shadows, to shine boldly and illuminate.
The transformation that will set apart again that which is good.
The freshness and wholesomeness of our identity in Christ.
The removing of both our iniquities and those that have come up through generations.
I recently came across the story of Jehosheba in the OT which had previously passed me by!
Jehosheba became one of the little-known heroines of the Bible despite her family tree. God doesn’t care how rotten your family tree is. When you receive His cleansing, your family iniquities are broken! If God could deliver Jehosheba under the old covenant, just think what He can do through a new and better covenant for us and our children, and the next generation.
In the New Covenant God will cleanse us of our sins whatever their nature if we confess them, ask forgiveness and want them not to be part of us anymore.
He will pull out the roots from our heart and they will not then regrow.
In the light of what is currently pouring out as an age old grief it is our prayer that the very roots will in this era be pulled out never to grow again.
This time right now feels as if it is heralding a new era where God is moving to again get rid of the ugly.
A time for renewal.
A time for using what was sent for evil to be turned on it’s head.
A time to peacefully fight for what is right, in our prayers, because what we cannot clean God can and is on it. Our prayers are powerful aligned with His desire.
The illustration represents all that is grimy, ugly, dark sin being flushed right through and out of us washing us clean and to bathe in Light again
As in the words of the old song:
‘What will wash away my sins. Nothing but the blood of Jesus.’
Three Scriptures that come to mind:
“But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”1 John 1:7-9 ESV
“he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit,”Titus 3:5 ESV
“the Spirit and the water and the blood; and these three agree.”1 John 5:8 ESV
The Hillsong song What can wash away my sin.
