Wisdom.
There is a great correlation between the number of wrinkles one acquires and the wisdom and knowledge that God is good!
The lines etched throughout a journey of discovery of life’s meaning, of seeking God, of a knowledge of what is or isn’t important.
Life isn’t a scene upon the stage as Shakespeare would put it from his play. ‘As You Like It ‘ which seems wistful of its futility.
At first the infant,
Mewling and puking in the nurse’s arms;Through the seven stages to
Is second childishness and mere oblivion;
Sans teeth, sans eyes, sans taste, sans everything.
No! Life is a gift.
A gift to praise God for running after us in His faithfulness
For being there to share our joys and despairs and in His mercy and grace to make good from both.
For being patient throughout all the time we were so full of our own ways that we seldom sought Him.
For standing by and letting us make our own choices and not dictating.
For loving us and for picking up the pieces when we got it wrong and for not judging or condemning us in those times.
For humbly waiting for us to seek His help. For allowing us to ignore Him and worse maybe blame Him.
For biding his time to fall in step with us at the moments when we are open and free to listen and stepping back when we are arrogant and self willed and un receptive.
He is faithfully there all the time but we do not always choose to acknowledge Him or give Him time of day.
We are the out turned palm of the hand held in front of the face, I’ll do it my way, back out, rebelling adolescent prodigals.
I give thanks for the wrinkles and the slowing down and the space and time I have been blessed with to spend time with Him.
My daughter has spoken often of me in my bubble before bubbles became so significant in our vocabulary!
May everyone find that precious bubble, a place and time to spend with Him, it is the heaven on earth in this eternal sojourn.
The illustration depicting age old wisdom and wonder that can be gained in no other way than living our lives.
Two scriptures that come to mind:
“For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding; he stores up sound wisdom for the upright; he is a shield to those who walk in integrity,”Proverbs 2:6-7 ESV
“for wisdom will come into your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul; discretion will watch over you, understanding will guard you, delivering you from the way of evil, from men of perverted speech,”Proverbs 2:10-12 ESV

Jan, you won’t believe it, in the words of Victor Meldrew, One Foot in The Grave, shows me upbringing, you quote Shakespeare and I quote TV gobbledygook 😂😂 only today I told someone ‘life will be a wonderful gift again. It was to a Christian friend.
WOW.
I liked the worship song at the end, but I was distracted by the huge mug she had in her hand, strange. But then I noticed that someone had called her a wonderful vessel. So I thought was there any significance to the cup (probably not) but I did wonder. The mug looked empty, so has she worshipped the Lord, was she filled with the Holy Spirit. Should we come to the Lord empty, nothing of our own substance or values or morales or ideas, just like the mug empty, worship our Lord, simple praise and thanks giving singing our own song and in turn filled with love from above. I hadn’t been home long when Cheryl said fancy a cuppa, I took the hint and made one. My first of the day, at work it was hot water or a sachet of coffee (yuk) but that first cup of tea, there was that ahhhhhh feeling. Coming to the Lord with a need to be filled, being graciously filled, there’s that ahhh warm safe cozy feeling.
Sorry Jan that was a bit of waffle just because she was holding a cup.
God bless you

Hi Dave. You made me smile. Yes an informal recording but it came over quite intimately and slightly different to the typical worship version so the reason I chose that one! Love the song though. I love that we can worship without any performance and anywhere. I might have to close my eyes and not focus on the coffee cup next time as I’ll be smiling at your words! Xx
