On the Fence.
Are you for or against?
Are you in or out?
Do you say ‘Yes’ or ‘ No’?
Are you Hot or cold?
Or are you on the fence?
Are you Luke warm?
Decisions making can often be a tough call especially until it is decided upon!
Some decisions will make a big difference In our lives others less so depending upon the nature and matter.
Life experiences will give testimony to the fact that we made a good decision in one case and a poor one in another and it all adds to our learning and later choices perhaps being wiser.
Mainly they have not been life threatening consequences.
However in one decision I would suggest it is most consequential.
That is the decision to say ‘Yes I believe ‘ ‘Yes I am in ‘ Yes I am for Jesus’ Yes He is Lord’.
Some of us burn with a desire to encourage everyone to come to know about Jesus because we feel an urgency and responsibility to share the Gospel, the good news.
Still there are people who do not know, have not heard and therefore have not had chance to make their decision.
How blessed have we been to have found out and to have had that chance.
Soberingly the bible does enlighten us that there will come a time of harvesting.
It is in such verses as the fields being ripe for harvest. However we interpret Those verses.
It also warns of the separating of the wheat from the chaff, weeds from corn and the sheep from the goats and others which would suggest the consequences of our decision making.
‘Yes‘ has great significance.
There are other verses that warn against being Luke warm, blowing hot and cold or on the fence.
It comes down, not to just a head decision but one of the heart.
A need to know, have a relationship Knowledge of Jesus because we have invited Him into our hearts and have said ‘Yes’ to believing Him to be in our lives.
We are not on the fence we are in His fold.
The illustration shows the harvest fields being reaped. Those who say ‘yes’ being gathered by Jesus.
Those who refuse to believe saying ‘no’ being gathered by the enemy.
But, Soberingly, as if the enemy is dyslexic, he also takes possession of the ON’s as well as the NO’s. Those who are on the fence, Luke warm, don’t knows.
Three scriptures that come to mind:
“‘I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were either cold or hot! So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.”Revelation 3:15-16 ESV
“His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will clear his threshing floor and gather his wheat into the barn, but the chaff he will burn with unquenchable fire.””Matthew 3:12 ESV
“Let both grow together until the harvest, and at harvest time I will tell the reapers, “Gather the weeds first and bind them in bundles to be burned, but gather the wheat into my barn.”‘””Matthew 13:30 ESV
