The Fathers Love.
One of our deepest seated need is to be loved. We seek after it in every stage of our existence from parents, from friends, from the partner we choose to marry, from our children.
The gratification we gain from knowing other’s love to satisfy this need Is variable for us all.
It comes as quite a Revelation to realise it is the deepest desire in our Father’s heart too. That He is passionate in His pursuit of loving us and for it to be reciprocated.
It is His unconditional love that is above all other. Totally unearned and undeserved and constant when we are at our best or worst.
When did we last see God running?
It is thought provoking because we think of Him as enthroned or slow in moving or watching.
Biblically the only place we see Him portrayed as running is as The Father running towards His lost son.
If we rethink out His actions:
It was Him out daily watching and waiting.
It was Him who shamefully hitched up His garments, showing His legs and running towards the son he saw returning.
It was Him who kissed and wrapped His arms around him.
It was Him who got to the son before anyone else in the community could accuse or punish.
It was Him who took all the shame upon Himself.
It was Him who clothed him with pride only in robes and rings.
It was Him who cast no judgement or condemnation.
It was Him who set the feast and celebration going.
It was Him who lavished His love on the prodigal.
The Father’s love.
This is our God.
Every one of us has hidden shame, failure and wrong doing in our lives now or in the past. We consciously or subconsciously may feel unlovable but be assured God does love us and sees us as who He intended us to be and as no other.
His love abounds for us.
The same love He shows towards each of us, is over and above any other.
There are no obstacles that He can’t breach to reach us. His desire is to encounter us “Behold, he comes, leaping over the mountains, bounding over the hills.”He is seeking each and everyone of us out in all situations.
He is Love and His desire is to Intimately abide within us not as a lover might but as a betrothed where we become as one and become love too.
The illustration shows the prodigal child lifted and held high to gaze upon with truly loving eyes to be kissed and held dear.
The desire within all of our hearts fulfilled.
The two scriptures that come to mind:
“For the mountains may depart and the hills be removed, but my steadfast love shall not depart from you, and my covenant of peace shall not be removed,” says the Lord, who has compassion on you.”Isaiah 54:10 ESV
“No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”Romans 8:37-39 ESV

Hi Jude. Lovely to hear from you. Have been thinking of you, sent an email last week but don’t know if it arrived in the right place! Sounds like the Kitchen and utility are going to be splendid with all the decorating going on. Yes I love ‘reckless love ‘ too. I so love all the worship music available these days.
Hope you are settling in to the new work when it is on and new pens are always very inspiring to try out!
Look forward to seeing you somewhere along the line. It has seemed pretty cold and dull for a few days so look forward to it turning round again! Take care. Blessings and love Jan xx
