“As for us, we have all of these great witnesses who encircle us like clouds. So we must let go of every wound that has pierced us and the sin we so easily fall into. Then we will be able to run life’s marathon race with passion and determination, for the path has been already marked out before us.”
As for us each one of us has a purpose right now to run with the baton in the great race of faith, however ill timed or crazy our time or roll might seem it will be revealed.
In the last three chapters of Hebrews we are led through the history of mankind and given the list of many who in faith played their part.
Living their part in the great tapestry of painting the history and the stories of those who in faith have revealed God’s purposeand passed on the baton over years and generations.
Now forming the witnesses in the clouds urging us on to do the same.
We are now the generation for now. Our lifetime of however many years that may hold on earth to discover our own baton of faith and to run with it through all those we may influence. To our last breath.
To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith.
Faith in our lives was our trust and our risking submitting all to carry on God’s will to be revealed to every man, woman and child and to be saved to eternity with Him.
There is nothing that we have that does not already belong to God. Everything given to us is for us to give and share with others.
If we really have faith we believe that God is watching for everyone’s salvation and we join with Him in this desire for everyone to complete this race and be numbered as a winner.
We lay aside everything which would hinder us in playing our part in His mission and believe His words.“Now is the day of salvation”
What David did with a sling and stone looked crazy to the world of Philistines.
What Peter did as he stepped out the boat looked crazy to the others.
What Moses did looked crazy to the people in that time.
What you or I may do or say as a Faith filled Christian May look crazy to the world but it is worth risking getting over ourselves if that makes a difference to another.
The illustration shows us as we run with passion. Eyes lifted always to the Lord. Carrying the baton of faith to pass on to others in their race to eternity.
Not to be placed as a first place but to be placed as a winner who knows they have a responsibility.
To hear Him say “Well done good and faithful servant”
