The greatest leaders are those who are sheep!
Jesus is our Shepherd.
He and the Father desire always to lead us.
Those of us who are headstrong and want to go our own way or follow any other leadership of comfort will not be the best at stewarding His desires.
Our first responsibility is to be a disciple.
Our second is to disciple others or lead in any capacity
“Follow me. “
His only call.
Ours the decision maker to be led by the Spirit to choose to be convicted, to follow.
Leaving old moving into new.
God is relying on those who hear Him saying I have got to get you up, over and above where we have been because I am no longer there I am moving on in new places of anointing.
We are no longer waiting in the wings it is the Kew to follow in agreement and be blessed.
Leadership was passed on to Joshua who had followed as Moses shepherded.
So he carried what was already established and had the add on, upgrade of his own anointing
As Moses he had learnt intimacy with God.
His add on was to be a warrior and have capacity to fight.
As Moses he had known salvation with God.
His add on was being able to possess the territory.
As Moses he had attained survival.
His add on was thriving.
As Moses he had reached the exiting.
His add on was entering the promised land.
As Moses he had reached the up and out place .
His add on was over and into.
In Exodus and Deuteronomy wise hierarchal leadership develops.
A developing of people who are not out for self promotion but for the best of all concerned.
People to stand in the gap and keep God’s ways above all others.
Leaders who are led by God.
Who fear God above all other.
The topsy-turvy kingdom of following Jesus the Servant King.
Whoever wants to be great must be your servant.
To love and serve.
The heart and priority of all good leadership for people and nations.
It is not in believing in your own rights it is in seeing God as the far horizon.
A new generation of people on their knees.
The natural realm enabled and given wisdom by the spiritual realm.
Outstanding people being birthed and nurtured each bringing their own strength.
No one will do it alone.
Our gifts are in part and diverse and unify in cross party, cross culture, cross relational coming together to create the kingdom in its glory and beauty.
Cultivate following and leadership, truth and reality integral one with the other.
Let the directives be from God.
Let us be resilient to criticism and grumbles.
Let us not be reactionary.
Let us be obedient followers first.
Let us be resolute in our fear of the Lord above all other.
Scripture does not teach democracy.
Scripture does teach theocracy.
“Do all things without grumbling or disputing, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world,”
The illustration shows the disciple sheep following God.
One leading others to become their potential in the kingdom.
Others bringing their own light and pixel to create the big picture.
Each pushing back the darkness to reveal the Kingdom of beautiful colour.
Four scriptures that come to mind:
“Moreover, look for able men from all the people, men who fear God, who are trustworthy and hate a bribe, and place such men over the people as chiefs of thousands, of hundreds, of fifties, and of tens. And let them judge the people at all times. Every great matter they shall bring to you, but any small matter they shall decide themselves. So it will be easier for you, and they will bear the burden with you. If you do this, God will direct you, you will be able to endure, and all this people also will go to their place in peace.””Exodus 18:21-23 ESV
“And I charged your judges at that time, ‘Hear the cases between your brothers, and judge righteously between a man and his brother or the alien who is with him. You shall not be partial in judgment. You shall hear the small and the great alike. You shall not be intimidated by anyone, for the judgment is God’s. And the case that is too hard for you, you shall bring to me, and I will hear it.’”Deuteronomy 1:16-17 ESV
“It shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be your slave, even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.””Matthew 20:26-28 ESV
“Do all things without grumbling or disputing, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world,”Philippians 2:14-15 ESV
