The time we are in is Massive.
Whenever a generation goes through something big it is discovered that God moves with great purpose within it.
God is never taken by surprise.
We also have to understand, by knowing what is in the Word, the full nature of God.
Some things go through Him unchangeably.
He is always Good, Love, Just, Merciful, Generous, Holy etc
However, some aspects of His nature require a tension of balance eg. He has a severity which is balanced by His kindness and gentleness.
His severity is an expression of His justice His kindness and gentleness an expression of His mercy and grace.
Our preference would be the blessing of the latter but both in our hearts and in scripture we acknowledge the necessity of the balance of both.
This applies as individuals, as a body, as Nations and systems within those.
God is never dictatorial but He equally does not tolerate mass sin.
We have to take responsibility to know our Master’s will and the amount we know it is proportion to the amount of severity of His judgement on not abiding in it.
We need to be in right standing with God.
God’s righteous anger simmers whilst He sits back and surveys what goes on in the world.
Where we or things are not in right standing.
God is slow to anger but He will use it, not to punish but to align us back onto the right course and in His favour.
In scripture God shows His anger repeatedly by allowing oppressors to rule over Nations, such as Persia, Assyria Babylon. Meanwhile training His people how to overcome whilst they are in the midst of the turmoil.
Or as in Romans 1 giving them over to sin allowing them to suffer the consequences and learn.
This begs the question today if God’s sternness to bring His People, Nations, Systems back into the right place is not in what and who He has allowed to take charge for the season?
It also reminds us in scripture of where Jesus says let the tares grow alongside the wheat until harvest because the root structure of the crop in the field could be disturbed and damaged by interfering mid growth.
We have to take care not to be raging against the vehicles He has chosen to outwork His way in the big picture.
Instead to be concentrating on growing the remnant required for this crisis hour.
God is Sovereign and as well as allowing He will intervene if it serves His purpose to bring us back.
When many in Corinth were dying and sick their belief in God’s Sovereignty bid them ask Paul what the reason was and he was able to identify that their non sobriety taking communion while they were not in the right standing with God because of their gluttony, drunkenness and judgement of one another this was the cause.
Similarly when famine hit again David sought the face of God and said they suffered because of the blood shed by Saul.
Actions do have repercussions.
By asking God how He is in it?
He is never surprised.
Is the source from the enemy and being allowed or of His own intention?
There is security and peace from fear in the knowledge that God is God.
What He ordains by allowing or provoking will be for a purpose and His purposes are always good.
The illustration shows the God of all parts unsurprised and in control of all things restoring His people and kingdoms to light.
Six Scriptures that come to mind:
“Every servant who knows full well what pleases his master, yet who does not make himself ready and refuses to put his master’s will to action, will be punished with many blows. But the servant who does not know his master’s will and unwittingly does what is wrong will be punished less severely. For those who have received a greater revelation from their master are required a greater obedience. And those who have been entrusted with great responsibility will be held more responsible to their master.””Luke 12:47-48 TPT
“So fix your gaze on the simultaneous kindness and strict justice of God. How severely he treated those who fell into unbelief! Yet how tender and kind is his relationship with you. So keep on trusting in his kindness; otherwise, you also will be cut off.”Romans 11:22 TPT
“For God in heaven unveils his holy anger breaking forth against every form of sin, both toward ungodliness that lives in hearts and evil actions. For the wickedness of humanity deliberately smothers the truth and keeps people from acknowledging the truth about God. In reality, the truth of God is known instinctively, for God has embedded this knowledge inside every human heart. Opposition to truth cannot be excused on the basis of ignorance, because from the creation of the world, the invisible qualities of God’s nature have been made visible, such as his eternal power and transcendence. He has made his wonderful attributes easily perceived, for seeing the visible makes us understand the invisible. So then, this leaves everyone without excuse.”Romans 1:18-20 TPT
“This insensitivity is why many of you are weak, chronically ill, and some even dying. If you do not sit in judgment of others, you will avoid judgment yourself. But when we are judged, it is the Lord’s training so that we will not be condemned along with the world.”1 Corinthians 11:30-32 TPT
“Now there was a famine in the days of David for three years, year after year. And David sought the face of the Lord. And the Lord said, “There is bloodguilt on Saul and on his house, because he put the Gibeonites to death.””2 Samuel 21:1 ESV
“He answered, ‘This has to be the work of an enemy!’ “They replied, ‘Do you want us to go and gather up all the weeds?’ “ ‘No,’ he said. ‘If you pull out the weeds you might uproot the wheat at the same time. You must allow them both to grow together until the time of harvest. At that time, I’ll tell my harvesters to make sure they gather the weeds first and tie them all in bundles to be burned. Then they will harvest the wheat and put it into my barn.’ ””Matthew 13:28-30 TPT
