Shake the dust off your feet!
“the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit.”
Now is the time of standing strong ready to be anointed in healing.
Pained people leak pain into others and the atmosphere.
Healed people carry the joy of the Holy Spirit to others and the atmosphere.
Now is the time to lift the carpets in our homes and churches and sweep out the dust that has been swept under them out of sight.
Dust, like sin, still pollutes until it is got rid of.
We do not want to limp forwards with a single grain of grit in our shoes.
Nor to stumble where any dirt has lain hidden when we can shake ourselves clean and be clothed in clothes of healing.
Unresolved pain hampers and impedes our walk forward as does hidden sin when it grimes and it becomes greater than the call obscuring it.
Jesus is the deliverer, the healer, the saviour, the counsellor.
God requires us strong, to have power and authority. To be tangibly whole and carriers of joy and peace into a world crying out for something it does not know.
God is mobilising and anointing us individually and as church to bring wellness into communities and enable restoration.
The only way to be healed is to meet Jesus. To meet the Holy Spirit.
Our role models are found in Acts.
When Paul and Barnabas were rejected in a region they were not wounded emotionally.
They shook the dust from their feet to move on and they went forth, not limping but full of the joy of the Holy Spirit.
Jesus is the answer individually, for church, our nations, globally.
God is moving and wants us to shake the dust off and be ready.
The illustration shows the feet and sandals freed from dust healed, anointed and enabled to move forward in step with God to bring light to push back the darkness.
Four Scriptures that come to mind:
“But they shook off the dust from their feet against them and went to Iconium. And the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit.”Acts 13:51-52 ESV
“And if anyone will not receive you or listen to your words, shake off the dust from your feet when you leave that house or town.”Matthew 10:14 ESV
“But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.”James 1:22 ESV
“For I will restore health to you, and your wounds I will heal, declares the Lord, because they have called you an outcast: ‘It is Zion, for whom no one cares!’”Jeremiah 30:17 ESV
