Time to stand and break every chain.
We are empowered by the measure of gifts, grace and faith given to us.
We can therefore be bold to stand up and take ownership of the victory God has already given us and take our warrior place in what is to come.
This is not the season to defer by considering it to be someone else’s responsibility, or that now is not the time or that God will sort it when He has in fact empowered us.
When the angel appeared to the chained and guarded Peter in prison it is interesting that the order of events was that of Peter already having been empowered so that he stood up and then his chains dropped off.
The natural expectation would be for the chains to be removed so that he could stand .
All the power we require is within us we already have the victory in the battle in depending on God’s strength.
We are participators not spectators.
We stand and declare and subdue the enemy who has masqueraded as freedom whilst we get heavier as we attempt to operate under our self coping strategies instead of submitting all authority to God’s limitless success and victory.
Jesus had only to say“Come out of the man, you unclean spirit!”And legions of them were cast out.
Sometimes our issues compound because we contend for self control and self reliance instead of submitting to God.
We can become our own worst enemy!
All the gifts of the Spirit start with God. By being dependant on God we can then reflect them.
Self reliance produces withering fruit . Dependency on the vine produces the healthy fruit.
We stand and take hold of His authority and chains drop off. We are empowered.
Even when chains have become entangled and seem irretrievable the Holy Spirit patiently disentangles, frees and undoes the work of the enemy.
The illustration shows us leaping up. Filled with and empowered by the Holy Spirit. The chains breaking and falling off. Freedom from the restraints of the enemy. Light pushing back the darkness.
Five Scriptures that come to mind:
“For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned.
Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith;”Romans 12:3, 6 ESV
“And behold, an angel of the Lord stood next to him, and a light shone in the cell. He struck Peter on the side and woke him, saying, “Get up quickly.” And the chains fell off his hands.”Acts 12:7 ESV
“And when Jesus had stepped out of the boat, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit. He lived among the tombs. And no one could bind him anymore, not even with a chain, for he had often been bound with shackles and chains, but he wrenched the chains apart, and he broke the shackles in pieces. No one had the strength to subdue him.”Mark 5:2-4 ESV
“For he was saying to him, “Come out of the man, you unclean spirit!””Mark 5:8 ESV
