We have a great tendency towards management which keeps things containable.
God on the other hand is expansive. With no boundaries, offering abundantly more than we can imagine.
God is totally unmanageable by us but only us by Him.
The difference in out look is as to us a damn narrowing and an expansive river widening in His eyes.
As an umbrella held up to cover us from His rain and a funnel held up to capture and fill in His.
As a single candle flame of light as the manageable flame to us and to the fierce firing furnace flame blazing.
God is not an additional accessory with limited presence. God is an all consuming presence of glorious presence.
The mountains problems or issues melt like wax as in the Psalms.
The earthquake like presence that shake foundations and chains drop off as in Acts.
The inextinguishable yet non-consuming flames of the burning bush in Exodus
The deafening sound of His voice as in Revelations
There is a feel that past revivals and moves of God have been mere tasters of what His potential is and to come.
Those who submit to His Spirit have known manifestations of it.
The expectation of what is hoped for will far exceed that when God has His way with His church and they rise up to full power and purpose.
There are no examples of manageable encounters with God in scripture. There is no space for cynicism only conviction.
Scepticism and mistrust has been on the increase through the period of the pandemic.
It has stemmed from realising that the media, some individuals in places of power and leadership and control, are not all we would expect and hope for.
Corruption, non righteousness and self motivated, flawed thinking and so much more has tarnished what we would aspire towards, respect and promote and trust.
For some a period of paying attention to darkness and negative instead of light and positive.
The enemy has attempted to shut so much down to confine.
Now is the precise time for our expansive untameable, un manageable God to roar forth and bring order back in the unexpected places.
Time for church to co partner with His authority and power.
He is the Game changer behind the words spoken by Peter over the cripple at the gate Beautiful when he said to the man “Money I cannot give you but what I have I give. In the name of Jesus Christ, Get up and walk’.
Time for celebration to be reinstated.
The illustration shows the expansion and overflowing abundance of the Holy Spirit poured out and God’s presence captured and spread. The bubbling celebration of His power, influence and move pushing back darkness with light.
Five Scriptures that come to mind:
“The mountains melt like wax before the Lord, before. the Lord of all the earth.”Psalm 97:5 ESV
“and suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken. And immediately all the doors were opened, and everyone’s bonds were unfastened.”Acts 16:26 ESV
“And the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush. He looked, and behold, the bush was burning, yet it was not consumed.”Exodus 3:2 ESV
“And I heard a voice from heaven like the roar of many waters and like the sound of loud thunder. The voice I heard was like the sound of harpists playing on their harps,”Revelation 14:2 ESV
“But Peter said, “I have no silver and gold, but what I do have I give to you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk!” And he took him by the right hand and raised him up, and immediately his feet and ankles were made strong. And leaping up, he stood and began to walk, and entered the temple with them, walking and leaping and praising God.”Acts 3:6-8 ESV
