“For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known. “
There have been several prompts but for one the meaning and understanding has only fully been revealed to me today.
“Less is greater, greater is less”
Words given to me by God, alongside other dreams and visions, prior to us being caught up in the Coronavirus Pandemic .
They became the name of my blog in obedience to knowing them to be significant but not fully understanding the reason why despite multiple vague interpretations.
Today I sense God’s call on us to receive.
I am convicted that those of us who are in cinque with God in this present moment are those who relate to the posture of sitting or kneeling at the feet of Jesus.
Mary resting in the presence of Jesus. Not Martha too busy in serving and driven to demanding.
Or the other Mary, possibly Mary Magdalene at the feet of Jesus washing His feet in expensive oil and drying them with her hair.
Receiving has the sweet aroma and will sustain us, strengthen us, make us whole. Demanding is but another clamour and clashing sound from the world.
The Holy Spirit is urging us to take up the posture of sitting at the feet of Jesus and receiving from. Knowing His eyes of love and gentle words are all that we need. Knowing in our hearts that He is taking such pleasure too in our being there.
To be vulnerable and looked upon as mad in our use of valuable fragrant oil.
To be accused as lazy and idle as we rest. To be considered odd to be obsessed and all consumed by Jesus above all else. To be judged as undeserving and condemned by others.
Be captive only to one, Jesus. Less is more. It is being in God’s will. We do less in rest but we receive more and this will be the resource that gets us through and from which we overcome.
This rest is His gift. There is no symphony without the rests and pauses. Take Air for our lungs to fill the instruments or voices. The symphony of heaven arises from this gift. It is His blessing. In it we know His love, see His light and are empowered by both.
To truly know Him face to face was His dream for our relationship before creation began. It is a new creation in the spirit where we are enabled to reflect Him and His power.
He is crafting, preparing and empowering us for more. Right now less is greater and greater is less.
The illustration shows the face to face encounter, the reflected image as in a mirror of Christ in us. The coin symbolic of the ransom for our lives already paid in the salvation of the cross. The chalice, in the space between the two and in the centre, of the redeeming blood of Christ. The rim as eternal, never ending . The letters of the one side of the coin being Love and Light which together on the other side are the power as seen in the spectrum. The Light pushing back the darkness.
Five Scriptures that come to mind:
“For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known. So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.”1 Corinthians 13:12-13 ESV
“But Martha was distracted with much serving. And she went up to him and said, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me.” But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, “but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.”Luke 10:40-42 ESV
“Jesus said, “Leave her alone, so that she may keep it for the day of my burial. For the poor you always have with you, but you do not always have me.””John 12:7-8 ESV
“and not holding fast to the Head, from whom the whole body, nourished and knit together through its joints and ligaments, grows with a growth that is from God. If with Christ you died to the elemental spirits of the world, why, as if you were still alive in the world, do you submit to regulations—”Colossians 2:19-20 ESV
“I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”Galatians 2:20 ESV
