“Immediately the fingers of a human hand appeared and wrote on the plaster of the wall of the king’s palace, opposite the lampstand. And the king saw the hand as it wrote.”
God has all the answers. He is the answer. This is the writing on the wall.
The message is to, turn to, choose God and His kingdom while there is still time.
All is in The balance and being weighed. God watches us closely, jealously for our response.
We are divided and some will await in fear and trepidation, others in eager expectation of how the balance will tip and others in denial.
If we were to give account of our decision how many would be in the group of : “Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.”
How many in the group of: “And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.”
How many who seemingly do not see reason to spend time with Him and only have pride, self reliance and belief in other things of the world:
“Come to me, all who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”
We are in a time of greater revelation, a time of grace where the window into the kingdom is still open and Jesus beckoning us in.
In the beginning there was such promise of perfection in God’s presence. The place of no separation, shame, sin or death.
Jesus regained that promise at the cross and resurrection dispelling the curse on humanity stemming from Adam and Eve in the Garden. The fallen world we observe around us with trials and tribulations is for a season.
Our discovering or decision has increasing significance at this time. The veil has been lifted on many of the scriptures and from our own understanding of them. Difficult scriptures from prophets and written by visionaries such as John in Revelation, Isaiah where each chapter 66 in all are representative of each OT and NT book in the bible with Ch 53 being the prophesy of the whole of Jesus’ life.
Daniel who was even told to seal up the wisdom revealed to him until a later time.
Daniel was a prophet in King Nebuchadnezzar’s, as a young man and King Belshazzar’s as an old man’s, rule.
Where other, so called wise men of their day, failed to interpret prophetic dreams. Daniel was proven by wonders, as a man of God and that God gave him the wisdom to interpret the visions.
For the first King the interpretation was for future times. That a stone carved by no human hand, representative of the kingdom of God, would bring crashing down the statue of what looked like a mighty ruler carved in precious metals representative of man’s different eras in time and history and would bring back His chosen people Israel.
For the second King the interpretation of the writing on the wall written by a visible hand was.
“Mene, Mene, Tekel, and Parsin. “
‘Mene’ that his days in the kingdom were numbered, ‘Tekel ‘ they were weighing in the balance and found wanting and ’Parsin divided kingdom was lost and given to others.
The final chapter in Daniel has him having a vision that is to be sealed and not revealed until the latter times as in Revelation.
“He said, “Go your way, Daniel, for the words are shut up and sealed until the time of the end. Many shall purify themselves and make themselves white and be refined, but the wicked shall act wickedly. And none of the wicked shall understand, but those who are wise shall understand.”
God has all the answers. He is the answer. This is the writing on the wall.
The illustration shows the visionary writing on the wall written by the spiritual hand and illuminated by the light from the lamp stand. The light pushing back the darkness.
Seven Scriptures that come to mind:
“Immediately the fingers of a human hand appeared and wrote on the plaster of the wall of the king’s palace, opposite the lampstand. And the king saw the hand as it wrote.”Daniel 5:5 ESV
“And in the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that shall never be destroyed, nor shall the kingdom be left to another people. It shall break in pieces all these kingdoms and bring them to an end, and it shall stand forever,”Daniel 2:44 ESV
““Then from his presence the hand was sent, and this writing was inscribed. And this is the writing that was inscribed: Mene, Mene, Tekel, and Parsin. This is the interpretation of the matter: Mene, God has numbered the days of your kingdom and brought it to an end; Tekel, you have been weighed in the balances and found wanting; Peres, your kingdom is divided and given to the Medes and Persians.””Daniel 5:24-28 ESV
“His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’”Matthew 25:23 ESV
“And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’”Matthew 7:23 ESV
“Come to me, all who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”Matthew 11:28-29 ESV
“He said, “Go your way, Daniel, for the words are shut up and sealed until the time of the end. Many shall purify themselves and make themselves white and be refined, but the wicked shall act wickedly. And none of the wicked shall understand, but those who are wise shall understand.”Daniel 12:9-10 ESV
