“Do not come near it, in order that you may know the way you shall go, for you have not passed this way before.”
Leadership is hard. Life’s journey is hard. We can all feel ill prepared.
When Moses led the Israelites out of Egypt he was not already prepared and professional at it.
Nor are we prepared or primed for our life journey. We are all going where we have not passed before then now and in our progression into the future.
“you have not passed this way before.”
Yet we can see when we trace it back where the finger of God pointed and directed.
We can have confidence in the knowledge that God knows the before, the now and the after and is totally involved in our lives. He is ambitious for us to reach our inheritance and says .
“for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.”
We can take comfort that He knows our feelings, fears, emotions, uncertainties and He cares and He keeps His word.
“Know therefore that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, “
There may be changes in leadership but we can trust in Him when we feel out of our comfort zone. He is in the middle of all things and He does all things well whether it is what He ordains or what He permits.
His sovereignty is our foundation stone. We bless what God has His hand on. We relinquish control whether we understand or not.
If we have never been this way before it is natural for us to want God to take our hand and lead us as we trust Him.
We cannot always be nosy if He is not yet ready to reveal to us. We just obey without argument. His ways or thoughts may not be ours.
“There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death.”
Thank Him that He never “leaves or forsakes us.” He is all powerful and all loving.
There is “holy ground “ that we may stand upon where, like Moses we fear God and are willing to remove and stand upon without understanding, when he encountered the burning bush.
God will sometimes not allow us to know and work out the answer to do something He does not will at that particular time.
There are some things that remain a mystery. God is uncreated, unthreatened, untainted, self defining, sovereign.
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord.”
It is ok not to know all. We would be arrogant to assume we have all the answers.
We are not commanded to know it all but we are commanded to worship.
It gives space for miracles to take place.
We are not all knowing and God hides for us to find.
He never abandons us and He does all things well. Even when we appear to be in a hard place of trial, tribulation, persecution and crushing.
We worship Him. He is central on the throne.
In Christ alone my hope is found.
