“For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.”
This appertains so fundamentally for the time we find ourselves to be entering into right now.
The simplicity of how we walk and what we hold to be our central importance is paramount to our body of the church.
Jesus’ central mission was loving, following and obeying.
The fruits of His walk in the Gospels was to provide the core stem from which we as ‘sons of God’ branch and bear fruits.
God is now pruning away those things that are not fruitful in our growth and that make us tired, wearied and dead.
The day by day tedious formal, planning, performance, religious part of church can be pruned back.
The getting rid of dead wood brings light, Life and visibility to revive the real core.
Past Revivals of God’s people have revealed firstly the Glory of God, secondly the Glory of Jesus. This thirdly is the time of revealing the Glory of The Holy Spirit. The third person of the Trinity.
The Holy Spirit reveals Truth, Jesus and convicts us of what we need to repent of.
“Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out, that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord,”
It is arrogance to think we are in control and know what to plan and do. That brings death and weariness as we falsely labour to implement it. Time to turn.
There is truth, freedom to say: “You are God, I am not, You lead”. And then we are just getting into the slipstream to follow.
We know God has already sent the Holy Spirit. To receive Him requires our lowliness to accept and acknowledge that we need Him. We are dead and don’t know without.
The church, sons and daughters of God, saved by Christ, are the only ones with this potential to be convicted, to know and heed the Holy Spirit.
“And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”
God’s will is to give us back the authority that our unity in the Trinity gives us. To bring His will into being in our communities and Nations.
The conviction of the Holy Spirit is our means of turning. It is receiving the Holy Spirit that brings us back to life.
“But if Christ is in you, although the body is dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness. If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.”
This breath of fresh air move is for wild freedom.
The more we can lay down the security of relying on our planning, structures and road maps we will be rewarded.
The Spirit often only tells us in the moment and not before. It takes a radical abandoned courage.
Instead of routine, daily tuning into the directions of the Holy Spirit the more, we will discover authority and power and know it comes from Him not us.
How willing are we to put that dependency into action at risk of the fear of seeming unprepared.
Our high levels of self dependency to perform grieve the Holy Spirit.
We choose whether to be open, to surrender to make space for, to follow.
If the church doesn’t host The Holy Spirit who will?
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
We will not feel alive if we are not partnering with the Holy Spirit. We have access to Him and His ways, His plum line, His power. All we require .
“he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.”
Taste and see. There is no need to be mimickers of any other systems of power. We have access to The Power.
The illustration shows Christ the branch, us the fruit and light emanating through the Holy Spirit moving and pushing back the darkness.
