“Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.”
We have but a short life and a purpose to fulfil in it.
Much of it we are coasting, growing, distracted. Some of it we are delaying and putting off and not facing the fact that some things in eternity especially faith can only be implemented this side of our carnal death.
Time is only in the now but our history has brought us here and we are going somewhere and we have second chances and so it is far from meaningless.
We head toward the freedom of the better place of home. We have a perspective of heaven.
“But as it is, they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared for them a city.”
God gives us words and warning of what He has intention and purpose for and we all hear and know His voice and signs and sometimes choose to engage and develop that or to ignore it.
“And in the morning, ‘It will be stormy today, for the sky is red and threatening.’ You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times.”
We all have a specific task in one form or another of serving God’s purpose in our life and generation. Some callings are generational and the baton is handed on as a call.
“For David, after he had served the purpose of God in his own generation, fell asleep and was laid with his fathers and saw corruption,”
We have opportunities to make the most of our time. Careful and faithful serving opposes corruption in the world. Wisdom has a potential to redeem time. Jesus was our ultimate redeemer buying us back from sin and death.
“Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.”
Wisdom has many doorways many found in Proverbs where relationships can be preserved or repaired and conflicts resolved.
“Good sense makes one slow to anger, and it is his glory to overlook an offence.”
“The heart of the righteous ponders how to answer, but the mouth of the wicked pours out evil things.”
“If your enemy is hungry, give him bread to eat, and if he is thirsty, give him water to drink, for you will heap burning coals on his head, and the Lord will reward you.”
There is a generational responsibility to take up Jesus’ yoke to bring back order and kingdom ways. We were bought at a price and must release others.
He has called us by name to bear His name and look like Him. To no longer be nomadic but to know home.
Millennials especially have a place to be launched into. To be released from the holding of a revolving door and to step out into their creativity and purpose. Step out from waiting into their visions and activity.
Ours being to get alongside, encourage and make room. To welcome interconnected weaving together. To be those who are launched into the harvest field.
The illustration shows God’s intentions and purposes redeeming time and throughout generations bringing and emanating light to push back the darkness.
