“And if he is not redeemed by these means, then he and his children with him shall be released in the year of jubilee. For it is to me that the people of Israel are servants. They are my servants whom I brought out of the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.”
God is intensifying the pressure of His hand upon us.
Agitating us to expose and disclose what is truly within us to bring us to a right place with Him.
His testing and pressing is to see how much pure we are. How much we are motivated by self in our hearts or by His heart.
Our own desires versus His will. Our flexibility to His purpose as opposed to our comfort.
The double edge being the excitement in the sense that God is about to move but equally in the knowledge that His purifying fire it will bring us to our knees.
God is about to move in Justice and Judgement.
It is an answer to our prayers for revival and glory. He will only revive and give glory to that which is of Him.
When His fire comes there is nothing left of our making. Only His goodness will cleanse and will roll on like a river to make all wrongs right.
“But let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream.”
We sense in God the emotion of His heart breaking at what He sees going on in His people and in His nations.
He is not surveying it all from afar He is connected within and present. He recalls the devotion of them and their turning away.
““Go and proclaim in the hearing of Jerusalem, Thus says the Lord, “I remember the devotion of your youth, your love as a bride, how you followed me in the wilderness, in a land not sown.”
Therefore His heart is to restore what has been stolen and lost. His Judging and Justice therefore come from that same heart.
He has been Father, Shepherd and brought the Holy Spirit to His people and now we must partner with His Justice and Judgement.
He has taking a step back to remove Himself from what He cannot tolerate and waited.
His lingering and holding back seems to have ended as He steps forward to undo what has become so offensive to Him.
“you will be visited by the Lord of hosts with thunder and with earthquake and great noise, with whirlwind and tempest, and the flame of a devouring fire.”
We and creation belongs to God. Much of what we have become and created in the world must be pressed and undone. He will not rule over what is not of Him but of the enemy.
“Behold, a king will reign in righteousness, and princes will rule in justice.”
There is consequence to sin that we have to both walk in as punishment and part of His retributive Justice. To make a bed and lie in it.
His distributive Justice comes about because His very core nature desires us to flourish. He therefore puts right what has been stolen and restores life where there has been death.
He puts right the order and power that were ours. Self seeking, individual rights and systems to be restored to Communally orientated being and systems.
He wars against our loss of identity, inheritance, legacy and oppression. Where distribution of property, wealth, food welfare has been unfair and monopolised by rich and dictatorship whilst the poor and needy have not been looked after.
There has to be a Just re-levelling such as that in Leviticus 25 of the principles of a year of Jubilee. A crying out of us to be of God’s heart to give abundantly generously for others.
“And if he is not redeemed by these means, then he and his children with him shall be released in the year of jubilee. For it is to me that the people of Israel are servants. They are my servants whom I brought out of the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.”
Hence the pressing now to make us ready to be in partnership with Him in being the provision for others and not on the painful receiving end of His judgement and justice.
We are all unrighteous but have the opportunity to to be disciplined by what we see and reform as we recognise wrong
It has been a pattern sequenced throughout scripture.
It is a move of Justice from God that will turn us around. God makes what is wrong right.
The illustration shows God’s hand pressing and aggravating us to ensure we are completely in the right place with Him as He steps forwards to assert His Judgement and Justice in us , His body and His Nations. Light emanating to push back the darkness.
Five Scriptures that come to mind:
