“Lord, my heart is meek before you. I don’t consider myself better than others. I’m content to not pursue matters that are over my head— such as your complex mysteries and wonders— that I’m not yet ready to understand. I am humbled and quieted in your presence. Like a contented child who rests on its mother’s lap, I’m your resting child and my soul is content in you. O people of God, your time has come to quietly trust, waiting upon the Lord now and forever.”
It’s as if we feel ourselves to be seesawing between bitter and better at the moment. The testing being are we going to take offence or remain faithful.
Where we have to submit to God’s way and choice even in the painful moments that are perhaps reshaping us.
The enemy would love our disappointments or our sense of disorder or broken to rob us of our hope.
It is a time to rest in and allow God to work out His character through us.
Of waiting and patience and of perseverance. Never to say never.
To see the job through and reap the harvest, and reward of the reformation and restoration.
“As the crowds emerged from the village, Jesus said to his disciples, “Why would you say, ‘The harvest is another four months away’? Look at all the people coming—now is harvest time! Their hearts are like vast fields of ripened grain—ready for a harvest. Everyone who reaps these souls for eternal life will receive a reward. Both those who plant spiritual seeds and those who reap the spiritual harvest will celebrate together with great joy!”
In the natural it is like the scenario of emptying everything out and pulling everything out of place in a room to a point where it looks a chaotic mess but with the purpose that when every corner is cleaned and all the rubbish has been sifted out and disposed of, it is ready to put it tidily back together, reorganised to being the better, perfected place from where it started.
Spiritually we are in a place to remain aligned and focused on our mission. Not pulled away to the left or right. Not distracted by man’s or others course or agendas but to remain unconfined on God’s course.
When God is doing a big clearing up move it may well look messier for a while in the process.
We need a vision or we perish.
“When there is no clear prophetic vision, people quickly wander astray. But when you follow the revelation of the Word, heaven’s bliss fills your soul.”
We have to also balance the position of becoming the bride of Christ with that of being His army.
The place we desire of intimacy and the place of being ready for action in whatever way we are commanded.
“The earth was rocked at the sound of his voice from the mountain, but now he has promised, “Once and for all I will not only shake the systems of the world, but also the unseen powers in the heavenly realm!” Now this phrase “once and for all” clearly indicates the final removal of things that are shaking, that is, the old order, so only what is unshakable will remain. Since we are receiving our rights to an unshakable kingdom we should be extremely thankful and offer God the purest worship that delights his heart as we lay down our lives in absolute surrender, filled with awe.”
The sense that we may feel that no one is listening is reminiscent of the time Joseph had to abide imprisoned before he walked in his mission.
He was imprisoned for over two years before the cupbearer, who had survived in Pharaoh’s service after his experience of Joseph interpreting his dream, recommended that Pharaoh should have him speak into his dream about the fat and thin cows.
“And Pharaoh said to his servants, “Can we find a man like this, in whom is the Spirit of God?” Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Since God has shown you all this, there is none so discerning and wise as you are. You shall be over my house, and all my people shall order themselves as you command. Only as regards the throne will I be greater than you.””
Our feeling of bouncing of confined walls where no one is listening will suddenly be released into being, through opened doors.
To move forwards with authority into what God has prepared for us. Our position is to remain rested but ready. Sweet and not bitter. Ready for the time when all are ready to hear and act. Be wary of disappointment robbing our hope.
Our desire must always be aligned to God’s choice and timing.
The illustration shows the God held, seesaw balance of bitter or better testing the hearts response to His choices. Light emanating to push back the darkness.
