“And there will be signs in sun and moon and stars, and on the earth distress of nations in perplexity because of the roaring of the sea and the waves, people fainting with fear and with foreboding of what is coming on the world. For the powers of the heavens will be shaken. And then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. Now when these things begin to take place, straighten up and raise your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.”
The word of God is unravelling before our very eyes and the Holy Spirit is taking captive our thoughts. In the OT where we are commanded to Love with soul
“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.”
In the NT it is endorsed with minds also by Jesus
“And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’”
Christ reveals what we need to know as and when and how to deal with that revelation so that we can live in obedience to Christ
“We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ,”
In our current culture this discernment of what is generated from the world and the enemy and with potential to trigger and stir up fear is even more timely so that we remain resting in peace of mind and stillness of heart.
“for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.”
By filling our mind with Christ increasingly activating the mind of Christ that is within us we can come against all else.
The wisdom of God shows us where to focus our gaze and is our strongest warfare.
Spending time in the word and in prayer always contends to maintain our place of peace whatever signs of chaos surround us we are not victims reacting to fear propagated by the enemy.
“Now when these things begin to take place, straighten up and raise your heads,”
We are not intimidated or overwhelmed if we see through Christ’s eyes with His mind.
We know that God is not taken by surprise, He remains in control. Jesus is our saviour and deliverer.
We remain rooted in Love and not fear and steward our lives accordingly.
“for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.”
In the world people are toppled from their rule and throne. In the kingdom the Lord reigns forever. His throne is unshakable.
“I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and the train of his robe filled the temple. “
“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!””
The illustration shows the word of God unraveling before us as what He has hidden becomes current in such times. The Holy Spirit raising our heads to see and live in obedience, emanating light that pushes back the darkness.
