“See, I have set before you today life and good, death and evil. I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Therefore choose life, that you and your offspring may live, loving the Lord your God, obeying his voice and holding fast to him, for he is your life and length of days, that you may dwell in the land that the Lord swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.”
God delights in us and He connected us to His heart as He created us.
He held us in His hands and lovingly poured out His dream and purposes over each one of us.
The bible shows us, however, that in the world there are equally blessings and curses set before us in life and our responsibility lies often in our choices.
We will all sin and fall short but can choose to repent and seek forgiveness.
“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,”
We have faith in the redemption of Christ’s blood shed once to bear our sins and for our forgiveness.
“And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment, so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him.”
God is a good God always.
He is true to His promises but equally He is just and His covenants are binding.
The enemy takes advantage and takes upon himself legal rights when we or those generationally preceding us break away from God and our iniquities are not dealt with to deliver us.
There is evidence in the bible that God will revisit sins in the generations in the hope of deliverance or there being a change of heart, to turn back from whatever is a pervasion.
“You shall not bow down to them or serve them; for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me,”
There is evidence of His patience not to punish, Him waiting for 70 years, to pass to delay and give opportunity to turn around.
Then the enemy has his pay back.
There is evidence of some famines and droughts etc being the pay back where the opportunities and warnings have continually been disregarded.
“Now there was a famine in the days of David for three years, year after year. And David sought the face of the Lord. And the Lord said, “There is bloodguilt on Saul and on his house, because he put the Gibeonites to death.”
There is evidence of what seemingly has been a previously unanswered prayer suddenly having authority and it is the time for it to be answered.
It is for God’s sake as well as the petitioners deliverance.
“O Lord, according to all your righteous acts, let your anger and your wrath turn away from your city Jerusalem, your holy hill, because for our sins, and for the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and your people have become a byword among all who are around us. Now therefore, O our God, listen to the prayer of your servant and to his pleas for mercy, and for your own sake, O Lord, make your face to shine upon your sanctuary, which is desolate.”
Our decisions effect generations to come just as our predecessor’s decisions have effected us.
Each of us can look back through our bloodline and not only see physical, genetically resemblances but can see personality traits be they blessings or curses.
Our lives can be blessed and following the path that was meant to be or be diverted from that way when the enemy has been dealt an opportunity by our choices until we are freed from them and liberated again.
The cycle to breakthrough and receive healing and liberty is one the Holy Spirit draws us to.
We come before the Lord and ask Him to search our hearts, to reveal to us areas where the enemy can accuse us of wrong.
When it is revealed we recognise it and perhaps where it has been passed from the previous generation down.
We have been given the keys to the kingdom in Jesus’ example.
Repent, ask for forgiveness for predecessors and ourselves, break its power by turning away from it and also being forgiving towards those who hurt us and any we too may have passed on and perpetuated hurt to.
Take authority to defy the enemy any further rights to rob us in this area. To be gone. He has no power.
Receive all the power that God has in His dream and destiny for us. Pray for God to bless and protect us and our children.
It was His promise that He would keep His promise and bless to a thousand generations. As for me and my house we are going to serve the Lord.
“Know therefore that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations,”
The illustration shows where the enemy has pointed the finger, accused and robbed where he has rights because of sins in us and generations before us. God’s grace, forgiveness patience and revelation of Christ awaits His just revenge upon the enemy. The work of the Holy Spirit’s conviction emanates light that pushes back the darkness.
