“For you are a people holy to the Lord your God, and the Lord has chosen you to be a people for his treasured possession, out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth.”
We all have such value in the way Jesus sees us.
Never of inferiority or superiority but always of honour.
Through His eyes we are restored to having so much worth it sets us free from lacking confidence in our worth.
Because we belong to Jesus we are honoured from heaven and in the kingdom. Just as Mary sat at Jesus’ feet and washed them in expensive oils and dried them using her own hair, so would heavens company do for us, because their eyes see us, as He does, at our greatest worth.
Gifts, rights and blessings can be bestowed upon those who have honoured and respected.
Just as the story of Ruth and Naomi portrayed and represented restored redemption because Ruth chose to respect and love her mother in law and return, honour and protect her.
It opened her heart to receive redemption and the restoration for generations and enabled value and honour to be rewarded with love and its own kind.
Jesus can break off all insecurity as He reaches out to us in our imperfection, seeing and valuing what we were created to be in His image.
He is the restorer of relationships and losses.
Healing us as He enfolds us and pours Himself into our hearts. As a child of God we have a depth of innate value. We are a chosen possession of God’s and most valuable to Him. He invests His wisdom into us communicated through generations. He lavishes His love upon us. He removes insecurity and what does not belong from our hearts.
We can then stop defining ourselves and others by weaknesses. We know and have faith in our truth and value. His voice is the one we hear that says :
“You are chosen.””You are a royal priest.”” You are God’s special possession.” “You are holy.””You are His prize most special possession.””You are altogether beautiful in His sight.””There is no flaw in you.””You are as beautiful and majestic as an army with banners.””You are the apple of His eye.””God created you in His own image.””You are a citizen of heaven where the Lord Jesus Christ abides and has His reign.”
“But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself.”
‘You are the temple of the Holy Spirit.””You were chosen in Him before the foundations of the world.””You are a new creation.””You have been set apart as holy.””You have been loved, protected, surrounded by God who is your strong tower.”
“You are the light of the world.””You are the bride.””You are the lamb’s wife.”
“You are highly esteemed and honoured.”
“Therefore the Lord, the God of Israel, declares: ‘I promised that your house and the house of your father should go in and out before me forever,’ but now the Lord declares: ‘Far be it from me, for those who honour me I will honour, and those who despise me shall be lightly esteemed.”
He liberates us but He guards us jealously. He sees us through love and desires us to see others in the same way. He does all things well. He does all things in His perfect timing.
The story in our name will be completed by Jesus as we become an expression of Him and we are therefore honoured.
If we define people by how they are in their weakness we do not honour them. The perfect love of Jesus has to be poured out on all. Then love, value and honour will be restored.
The enemy distorts how we see ourselves and others and has done so through the bloodlines of many generations.
God is restoring the capacity we have to honour and love again.
The illustration shows us in prayer and worship held up in the palms of God’s hands and seen through the lens of the Cross and Christ in us. Emanating light that pushes back the darkness.
Three Scriptures that come to mind:
“For you are a people holy to the Lord your God, and the Lord has chosen you to be a people for his treasured possession, out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth.” Deuteronomy 14:2 ESV
“Therefore the Lord, the God of Israel, declares: ‘I promised that your house and the house of your father should go in and out before me forever,’ but now the Lord declares: ‘Far be it from me, for those who honour me I will honour, and those who despise me shall be lightly esteemed.” 1 Samuel 2:30 ESV
“But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself.” Philippians 3:20-21 ESV
