“Then he said to me, “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of hosts.
We need to choose to depend on God and hear what He tells us through His Spirit. Abdicating from this responsibility there are consequences. There is a critic in each of us that may prioritise what feels safe and comfortable instead of standing firm for the truth.
Jesus knew who He was and was intentional. In the temple He. Took time to fashion a whip before He cleared it. His action was not knee jerk anger it was intentional as He was lead always by what He saw His Father do in the Spirit.
It was His narrative not His own there was no void left for the enemy to fill. He occupied the territory as we too must. The remit Jesus gives us is to follow Him. When we obey how to follow we too can become one who leads and is followed just as Peter demonstrated as he left his nets when he heard Jesus call follow me.
We are born into a corrupt world but we are in the image of God. God is Spirit.
To seek and follow first is our motivation to faithfulness and we are therefore able to be who and do what He asks as we see and hear Him and know His presence.
He mentors us in what it means to ‘be sent.’ We are His ‘sent’ people. We have a mission of being given away and sown like seed.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,”
We are all sent on assignment not just the professional faith leaders. We belong to God therefore our life is not our own. We have been purchased by Christ’s blood.
God says “Go”. It is not His way to give details up front instead He leads us and it is worked out as we obey. We build the map as we go and as He convicts us of where we are sent.
We are here on earth, sent by God to extend His kingdom and authority. We cannot be selective. We are sent in every aspect of our life. The eternal perspective is not to focus on ourselves but to have our eyes up and focused on God.
It is selfish to waste time. Life is precious and not all about me. We are of another kingdom. Another set of values. Another purpose.
Life in this world is not a neutral, in limbo existence for us we have an assignment. As led by the Holy Spirit we express it in a continuum of our life and who we are.
“Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.””
Being sent is who we are as we reflect Him. It is His choice, after we have chosen Him, as to who and where He sends us. When we obey and steward the little well more is given. As the visible light the darkness is quelled as we serve. Light is part of who we are in the Spirit and a catalyst for miracles and signs to be replicated for His glory.
We are those saying. “Here I am send me”.
“And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here I am! Send me.””
The illustration shows us pregnant with the seeds of those who we will sow the knowledge of Jesus and the Holy Spirit into as we are sent. Light emanating to push back the darkness.
