“Now I have told him that I am about to judge his house forever for the sinful behaviour which he knew [was happening], because his sons were bringing a curse on themselves [dishonoring and blaspheming God] and he did not rebuke them.”
It is a sobering thought that the priest Eli’s sons had become worthless to God because they didn’t know Him.
This highlights the amount God finds worthy about us knowing Him.
Our Christian ministry is worthy to God mainly when it brings others to know Him. We are all His royal priesthood bringing others to know Him.
“But you are God’s chosen treasure —priests who are kings, a spiritual “nation” set apart as God’s devoted ones. He called you out of darkness to experience his marvellous light, and now he claims you as his very own. He did this so that you would broadcast his glorious wonders throughout the world.”
Our worth is in our fulfilment of the two commands Jesus left us:
“And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbour as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”
The priority is in knowing God. In that there is sufficiency. He is our priority above all else. He is enough. It sets us apart. A generation to be reconciled with God.
He invites us to relate and connect to His heart so that our eyes do not remain on our lack but on our gain. It is gained purely through abiding in Him.
“Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me.”
Only in that place will we truly express Him. Speak from His heart so without Him we can do nothing as we are so full of ourselves.
God draws us in by awakening us to the heart of Jesus so much so that we hunger for more and more evidence and revelation from Him.
The hands of God on our lives can mould us and fill us with His glory, presence and is powerful and necessary.
He strips away all complications right back to us just enjoying experiences with Him which is massive.
We have reduced the gospel to something far too small and insignificant in peoples lives.
Our traditions have become a burden in which we drowned. They have lost the magnificence and availability of who is at the centre.
Our spirits are hard wired to receive and know Jesus. It is so simple and yet beyond our understanding. He is expanding us to carry Himself in greater measure.
Jesus is inviting us into a new experience of Him and a divine hunger for Him. He is equipping us to become the bride of the Lamb.
God has authored the story not us. He takes all we offer and sets it ablaze. The river of joy overflows as separateness disappears. In union we find divine grace.
The illustration shows us rooted into Christ hard wired to know God emanating light that pushes back the darkness.
