“Come to me, all who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
Our need is for more of Jesus. We are honoured to be able to lavish our love on Him. To sit at His feet is our true attitude of discipleship. To be attentive to Him to the exclusion of all else is our posture of true love and in that place there is a divine exchange where Jesus takes His heart to give to us.
He came to win our hearts and liberate us. Obedience becomes a natural response with no tussle.
“If you [really] love Me, you will keep and obey My commandments. And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), to be with you forever— the Spirit of Truth, whom the world cannot receive [and take to its heart] because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He (the Holy Spirit) remains with you continually and will be in you.”
Love therefore liberates and transforms our lives.
Jesus has an unfathomable depth of desire for us to know Him far exceeding ours to know Him.
There is a Holy invitation for all of us to draw closer and know Him and in doing so there comes the revelation of who we really are too and that changes everything. We recognise the yearning in Jesus’ heart to be known.
His desire is for His people to value His heart and have a deep knowing and sharing resulting in closer knowledge of His mystery and beauty. He is good and has endlessly pursued us since before we were born.
We are never a failure to Jesus even though we may fail sometimes.
As we give Him our attention He reveals more of His love for us.
Nothing is going to remove us from His hands so we can confidently come to Him with all that we are. He knows our whole story and never judges critically.
We are the focus of His attention and He pours out His love for us. His heart is our prize and our hearts are His prize. The Eden place of safety and union.
Our daily schedule shows who is preeminent in our lives. Who is our priority. Our treasure.
We bathe in all he has blessed us in.
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth. In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will, so that we who were the first to hope in Christ might be to the praise of his glory. In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory.”
The illustration shows Jesus offering us His precious heart that we might know Him fully, reflect Him and emanate light that pushes back the darkness.
