We have choices to make daily in our lives about so many things.
The most mundane such as what to wear in the morning to the more significant that have impact on ourselves and others.
In choosing we also create consequences.
These may be good or bad dependent on what the initial choice reflected.
God also made choices.
In the OT it tells us that God chose us to be His people, His treasured possession and in the NT that it wasn’t us choosing Him but He choosing us so that we could bear fruit.
The consequences of God’s choices are always good.
We have the privilege of a fruitful life.
It does, however, also say that many are invited but few Choose to accept.
God allows us free will He doesn’t demand or force us. His invitation requires us to RSVP and say I will.
We are included in His plan as we choose to serve and submit to His invitation .
We can daily say “I will”. We are given daily the power to choose.
We can choose to centre ourselves daily by worship and praising God. It resets our compass to follow. It anchors us.
We know which doors to choose to open and which to choose to close.
Praise is powerful and can change the atmosphere.
Dispel negativity and creates a canopy to shelter us under and enable us the freedom to hear God.
Praise releases our gratitude and a reminder that it is not an entitlement but a gift God offers each of us.
It enables us to say all I have is Yours God and of your own I choose to give back.
The illustration shows us on the one side making choices as to which fruits to pick and eat from and on the other side the decision to Choose God in our life bearing the privilege to have a fruitful life.
The four scriptures that come to mind:
“For you are a people holy to the Lord your God. The Lord your God has chosen you to be a people for his treasured possession, out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth.”Deuteronomy 7:6 ESV
“You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you.”John 15:16 ESV
“For many are called, but few are chosen.””Matthew 22:14 ESV
“But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able thus to offer willingly? For all things come from you, and of your own have we given you.”1 Chronicles 29:14 ESV
